Lord Kesseli and the Drums - I Was in Love
Falling in love with who?
Some albums are pretty, only pretty, and some albums are stunning. Count on Lord Kesseli and the Drums to compete at the 2nd level.
Corrosive. That's how you could describe this album. The 1st word on the record is "explode". Quite a symbol.
We had left Lord Kesseli with a grand piano as the only instrument. Today he is back to his fundamentals, that is to say to his band, Lord Kesseli and the Drums. And he has everything going for him, everything to please: the rock side, the electro side, the depth of the instruments – guitars in front – the atmospheres, the outline of the voice, the strangeness of the lyrics.
As if it were stated by a hippie gone wrong, "I Was in Love" starts with a clean guitar swing that reminds me of James ("Getting Away with It"); it also includes a muscular Muse-style break.
"Far Away" seems to be inspired by Radiohead ("Let Down").
Among the many surprises that await you, you will discover a poor man trapped by sirens ("Rainbow Taste"), an appearance of liturgical choirs ("Aglow with Happiness"), an assembly of (divine?) powers who, with a slightly autotuned voice, address from above the human race to extract the evil from it ("Bomb the Shit out of Them"), and Michael Galusser’s drums everywhere that makes the pulses pound at your ears.
Finally, with "Grown-ups", you get hit in the face with the torments of adulthood, “with broken dreams”. Stunning.

Don't be too taken aback by the screaming "It's not OK": it's just a bad little time to go through (1:41). Maybe even by listening to the album you will end up finding some interest in this title. Gotta look for it...
Away from today's stereotypical productions, in which the chorus should come after less than a minute, which band still dares to deliver a 1:34 electro introduction ("The Chosen One") that takes us back to Tangerine Dream time? Feels so good, doesn't it? For that alone, thank you Lord Kesseli and the Drums, thank you Switzerland! -
