Let’s be honest: if I had a fast listening to their music over the Internet, amongst many others, I may not have noted. But… I’ve seen them in concert.
These 2 little chaps who don’t look anything special, master perfectly their subject. With a complementarity that any ticket applying for the White House would dream of.

On the right, Felix, guitarist and singer with the hat. A high voice a little like Asaf Avidan, distance and reverbs, additionally husky sometimes. An electric guitar playing full of riffs, direct from blues but avoiding its commonplaces and its monotony. A legwork, too.
On the left, Jean-Marc, bassist and machine man. The bass is there as a support. The genius side is more on the console side: sound effects, distortions in all directions, recording of loops, improvised call of these loops...
After an hour, I was convinced. Of course you’ll think of the Black Keys, of the White Stripes, of Air, and many others.

The album plunges me back into the atmosphere of the concert. It manages the amazing feat of being homogeneous without being boring. When you think you’ve seen it all, then comes a let-up ("War"), some disco ("Bitch"), a waltz ("I Don't Trust You") or a slow dance ("No Money Kids" and its bird songs)...

In short, the successful alliance between dusty influences (fifties like) and deliciously modern electro sounds, gives this promising duo a strong identity, either with money or no money. Let’s be honest.

  • 49 minutes in total, with a good balance between short pieces (but which rock) and others that take their time a little more, without exaggerating though. If half the tracks cross the 4-minute line, only "Rather Be the Devil" really goes into extra time, like when it’s played live.
